Pounding the Pavement...Hurts

I'm not a big fan of treadmill running, but with few grassy parks or trails near my home, it's the only alternative to the pavement outside. After just the few miles I've run these last few weeks, I already feel the need to mix it up. Plus, I'm too lazy to drive out and back to a track somewhere just to run. But on the positive side, I did run a 5k in 23:03. Granted, this is a "fake" treadmill time, but it gives me hope I can run a sub 23:00 at my 5k time trial in July.

All of this reminds me that I should probably change my shoes, which I bought in 2011 or 2012. I once read that running shoes should be changed every 300 to 500 miles. Based on the amount I've run since then, I'm probably good for another year or two.
