Morning Person Out of Necessity

Today was relatively light, about 3 miles, at a snail-paced speed. I didn't bring my watch, which gave me the freedom to take it easy on myself. One other difference was that I went running around 5:30 a.m., as opposed to my preferred afternoon or evening runs. But it was a lot easier to have a flexible schedule before I became a parent. Now, after coming back from work and managing screaming kids, you can hear my energy level drop throughout the evening. The later I wait to run, the less likely it's going to happen.

Early morning is one of the rare free moments I have for myself. Plus there's something gratifying about finishing when the sun comes up, showering and freeing up my day. Getting up at half past five is not a habit for me, but fortunately my newborn makes sure I never fall asleep in the first place.
